The bipolar plate for Zn-Br flow battery is a kind of carbon plastic electrode, it’s a carbon-based electrically conductive composite material that uses polyethylene as adhesive. The service life of Zinc Bromine batteries mainly influenced by deterioration of Carbon-plastic composite electrodes. Therefore, technical indexes are critical to ensure optimum performance of batteries.

The active coating material is added on one side(Br side) of our bipolar plate, which is used as anode materials. The other side(Zn side) of bipolar electrode is used as the cathode materials for the next cell unit. Cells in stack are directly series-connected via their bipolar plates rather than connection terminal. Increasing reaction area can ensure reasonable current density and reduce polarization potential on Br-side surface. There are two different kinds of active materials coated on the Br-side surface to suit different requirements, and fiber-shape materials are added to improve mechanical strength and anti-deformation of bipolar electrodes.
